Florida Supreme Court rules JTA bus drivers are state employees, cannot be sued

A Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus driver will not be an individual defendant in a lawsuit filed by a woman who was hit by a bus he was driving.
In 2005 Ashleigh Eminisor was struck by a JTA bus on Bay Street that was driven by Andreas Keck. After the accident Eminisor sued Keck and JTA claiming both were negligent.
But on Thursday the Florida Supreme Court said Keck could not be a defendant in the case because he's a state employee. Under Florida law state employees cannot be sued as individuals in lawsuits related to their job duties.
