Jacksonville police, fire retirees to get end-of-year bonus

The 2,000 or so retirees in Jacksonville's Police and Fire Pension Fund will receive a 3 percent end-of-year bonus, paid for with state money designated for extra benefits.
The bonus pool, which Police and Fire Pension Fund Executive Director John Keans says totals about $1.5 million, will come from money known as "chapter funds" that has paid for such bonuses for at least the past dozen years. The average payout will be about $750.
